Every new Motorhead studio album is inevitably described somewhere as a "return to form", and the seriously enjoyable Motorizer is no exception. Not that the veteran rockers have ever deviated far from their chosen path. They remain what they always were, a blues-rock outfit whose two basic templates are the fearsomely fast one and the leaden, heavy one, both of them performed at fearsome volume. Motorizer offers some of their best examples in both styles for years, several of them good enough to slip straight into their live set. The gloriously idiotic anthem "Rock Out" ("rock out, with your cock out, impress your lady friends", extemporises Lemmy) would be a hit single in a better world, while the gleeful glam rock of "English Rose" takes another approach to seaside postcard humour, this time bemoaning a flaky lady undeserving of Lem's indulgence. "Runaround Man" is a ferociously single-minded thrash, the frantic "Buried Alive" features especially courageous drumming from the always excellent Mikkey Dee, while the inevitable military references turn up on the more predictable if still impressive "When the Eagle Screams" and "Heroes". Remarkably for the (gulp!) 19th album from an act in their fourth decade, Motorizer is genuinely satisfying and great fun to boot. --Steve Jelbert Amazon.co.uk Review.
